On August 12, the Taichung City Tourism Bureau held a tourism promotion event in Seoul, South Korea, attracting over 70 representatives from the Korean tourism industry. The highlight of the event was the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Taichung City Tourism Bureau and the Seoul Tourism Association, pledging to strengthen future cooperation in tourism promotion, information exchange, and mutual visits.

The Seoul Tourism Association, with over 5,000 members, has long been dedicated to developing domestic and international tourism products. Association President Cho Tae-sook noted that Taichung’s convenient transportation and diverse scenery make it a perfect location for short-term international travel. She stated that she will actively participate in the development and promotion of Taichung itineraries to introduce Taichung’s charm to more Korean tourists.

Tourism Bureau Director Chen Mei-hsiu emphasized that this collaboration marks a new starting point for tourism exchanges between the two cities, and is expected to inject new impetus into two-way tourism and enhance Taichung’s visibility and competitiveness in the international market.

Jiang Wenwei, Chairman of the Taichung City Tourism and Hotel Business Association, stated that this trip not only fostered exchanges with Korean travel agencies but also allowed them to better understand the latest trends in the local tourism market. (The event also received support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Representative Office in Korea, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications’ Seoul Office, and the Korea Travel Association.)

The Tourism Bureau stated that it will continue its marketing efforts in the Korean market, encouraging more Korean tourists to consider Taichung as their first stop in Taiwan, allowing them to experience the city’s charm and friendly people firsthand, and ultimately enhancing Taichung’s international visibility.

Notably, the promotional event not only showcased Taichung’s tourist attractions, but also featured designs from the Taichung-based brand TCOD and held a raffle with prizes of round-trip tickets from Incheon to Taichung, Incheon to Taipei, and a day trip to central Taiwan. The event was highly interactive and received high praise from participating businesses.
